TOPIC: DIGITAL DIVIDE AND APPLICATION OF LAP-TOP TECHNOLOGY IN
HIGHER EDUCATION LEARINING IN PNG

Introduction
The research will use the survey method to investigate the application of Lap-Top Technologies in Higher Education in PNG. The PNGSDP funded Lap Tops have been distributed to most of the Fly River Students throughout five universities in 2013. First part of the survey is categorised as Lap Top Distribution Phase which is merely trying to understand and apply the Lap-Top technology in higher education learning. The second part will commence next year. This research investigates the prelude that ‘digital divide’ still exists and key competencies via computer technology are yet to be harnessed.

Purpose
(1) To conduct a survey on the students ability to use the technology during the Lap Top Distribution Phase.

(2) To conduct a survey on the students ability to apply the technology for learning purposes during the Lap Top Application Phase.
